Our Ulpan provides a large variety of solutions in teaching the Hebrew language and Israeli culture The Ulpan operates under the supervision of the Ministry of Education – Adult Education Department
We offer both morning (08:30 - 12:00) and evening (17:00 - 20:15) classes. All of our courses run for three months, opening and closing as per demand. Specific courses may vary between 2-5 days a week, according to the level.
The students should verify the exact configuration of the course before registering. We are flexible about transferring between morning and evening classes, as well as between levels, until you find the class in which you are most comfortable.
Beginners' Level
A1
- Alphabet and basic reading
- Basic conversational vocabulary
- Basic grammatical structures, including the present tense of verbs.
A2
- Additional vocabulary and grammatical
structures, including the past tense of verbs.
- Additional reading and conversation skills.
A3
- Further strengthening of reading and conversation skills.
- Future tense of verbs.
- Newspaper headlines and basic news items.
Upon completion of Beginners' Level, the student should be able to converse freely on an everyday level, express needs and wishes, and read news headlines, advertisements and simple texts. The student will also have a clear understanding of the basic grammatical system of the Hebrew language.
Intermediate Level
B1-3
- Extensive reading, broader conversation and expression.
- In-depth understanding of grammatical structures,
including the passive voice,
roots and weak letters, and syntactic constructions.
Advanced Levels
C1-3, D1-3
Focus on written Hebrew, including vocabulary enrichment, and advanced grammar and reading. This level implies the ability to express opinions and back them up, in speech as well as in writing, whether at a job interview or in a social setting.
At Ulpan Neve Tsedek we believe that there is no end to learning Hebrew, and we aim to grow with our students, according to their needs and abilities.
Placement
Prospective students are interviewed and tested to determine their level, based on oral skills and writing and reading skills.
Students with some previous knowledge can join an existing class on their level at any time based the test's results and availability. They are entitled to one trial lesson.
Complete beginners need to join the course at its start, and are not entitled to a trial lesson.

We also offer intermediate and advanced conversation courses, as well as the possibility of private lessons with our professional teachers at the Ulpan.
